cannot open python26.dll

cannot open python26.dll

I get the following error:

This is the dll in my c:\windows\system32\ folder:

I am on Windows 7 64-bit. Xchat version is 2.8.9
Python version is 2.6.6, it is installed in C:\Python26

did you install 64bit version of perl? if yes you need to download 32bit one. i noticed that my python.dll is in "C:\Windows\SysWOW64" folder and i'm using win7 x64 too

As mentioned above, do not install the 64bit Python library. Also, do not copy the Python DLLs to C:\Windows\system32, because module imports will almost certainly fail if you do.

Instead, add C:\Python26 to your PATH environmental variable, and restart X-Chat. Google if necessary (http://www.java.com/en/download/help/path.xml, for example).

I uninstalled the 64-bit version and installed the 32-bit version of python 2.6.6; that did it. That makes sense because x-chat is 32-bit. Perhaps something that can go into FAQ.
Also, I didn't need to add to PATH variable or do any other manual modifications.

yeah, python installs the main dll in both syswow64 and system32, which is ugly :?
