Connect to a server?

Hi
i used mIRC like years ago, and i havent used in a while since most servers started desappearing and stuff.
Now i moved to linux and just installed XChat and was trying it out but every server i try to connect it doesn't find. Can someone help me out?
Maybe some servers that yall know it works so i can try?
