Have joins and parts

Postby rickympl » 15 May 2007 09:42

My suggestion is to have an option that allows us to have the joins and parts shown separately from the rest of the channel messages. Have like 1/3 of the channel window reserved for this effect, having the parts shown on the left or right side in red and the joins on the right or left side in green, colors might b customized and how it show the parts and joins as well, my preference is nick only, since each channel would have its own set of parts and joins, no need for "has left channel because of...."
To be more clear I made a rough sketch of what I mean.

Indeed, and very difficult to understand... I fail to see what this is useful for. It separates information at the loss of chronological information. You can't easily tell anymore in which order somebody joined and left. What are you trying to do exactly and what information do you want to be presented in a better way?

If you want to spot joins and parts/quits more easily, configure them to show in a different color in the text events.

I guess i didn't explain properly.
The joins and parts could also have timestamps, therefore allowing for chronological information.
I just thought it would b nice to have the joins and parts seperate from the rest of the chat, and like I said it could be an option, whoever wants it then they could activate, who think its worthless can decide to not use it. Just like many other features like timestamps and text highlighting and nick completion suffix etc....
