XChat 2.8.7 released [change-log/screenshots]

Discussion about the official XChat for Windows.

X-Chat does not keep

Postby Almozo » 02 Apr 2008 00:10

Hi... the only things that i notice in the new X-Chat is when i set each channel individually either for 1 or 2 channel to log and the others to notify me if someone talk in channel. When i close X-Chat with the Quit option and open it back the Check for notifying is gone and check for loging is on every channel and i have to reset them all over again.

I never Experience any of the other problem that the others mentionned.

Thanks

I was wondering... is there an easer way to ignore people? I remembered in mIRC that you simply type /ignore personsnickhere and it'll automatically ignore them as long as they keep that nick... will something like that be added, or is it already there, just dun see it?

BTW: as soon as I get into town, I'm buying a license from y'all. Program kicks mIRC's... well, you know what. Heh.

Postby Almozo » 02 Apr 2008 23:02

Hi... to Ignore user simply type the following

/ignore nick*!* @* all <== this will ignore the person completely

/ignore nick*!* @* PRIV <== this will ignore the person on PRIVATE

/ignore nick*!* @* chan <== this will ignore the person on channel only

/ignore nick*!* @* NOTICE <== this will ignore the person on NOTICE

For more option just type /ignore help

Thanks

is there a way to get the latest changes for linux? the last release was almost 9 months ago, none of the cvs repositories or tarball locations were updated to do a manual compiling and there have been 2 releases for windows since then...

is the development of the linux builds dead?

There have been plenty of CVS check-ins in the last 9 months. Development continues.

possible bug with the lag meter.

it keeps showing lag of .6 or greater when actual pings are consistantly .24 or less.
i have been watching it and checking for days before i posted this. on the old 2.8.5e it seemed to have worked properly, not sure how it checks the pings but i check by pinging the server.

Xchat Closes

Postby boredcollegekid » 08 Apr 2008 23:56

I posted this as a topic, but I guess it won't hurt to put it here. Like the buffer issue, when Xchat is left open for long periods of time, it will close itself. I usually tend to leave IRC open at all time and when I would leave XChat open at night I would wake up in the morning to find it closed. Maybe be related to the buffer issue not sure.
Also I am using Vista and I know of some others who have this same problem, doesn't seem to affect XP though

ignores don't work with scripts as like tcl.. example, if someone that was ignored by invites you won't see him message but if you scripted a code as like 'on INVITE' for an ajoin, the ignore don't work..

I liked of this new release, changed many things.. but still uses tcl 8.4 and no 8.5 or I not tested if works with 8.5..

Ty backup your some .conf files as like popup.conf to get icons, the theme I still not tested, later deleted, reinstall xchat again and a new popup.conf will be made, it is because the instalation don't overwrite old files, if you added something in the old popup.conf and you want somethings, you need add again.. you can use some editor to edit popup.conf but you have to know what you doing and not use wordpad or notepad, you need an unix text editor as like nano, etc.. but you can do all editing in the own xchat, but I prefer a unix text editor.

News for 2.8.7a (15/Apr/2008)

• Fixed a possible crash if too many characters were typed or pasted into the input-box (this affected 2.8.7 only).
• Fixed logging if the global setting was OFF and you turned it ON for individual channels.
• Python scripts will now also be auto-loaded from C:\Program Files\XChat\Plugins\*.py.
• Fixed a Python crash [1931579] where the word array contained more than 28 words.
• /Ignore <nick> will now automatically add !*@* to be more user friendly.
• Fixed: Changing settings in a channel's right-click menu while that channel wasn't the front-most used to fail.
• The TCL plugin now requires ActiveTCL 8.5.

Hello, with this build i have some problems.

First: the colouring of topics sometimes go bad: example
Image

----------------------
The second problem is with highlight.

When i put some words in the highlights, example
Image

xchat will highlights EVERY phrase with punctuation simbols, like
Image
If i set with irc_extra_hilight, everything works fine.
----------------------------

Third:
I've made a custom layout for the capsed "è" and "é" and other vocals.
Image

In windows,
if i type CAPSLOCK+è, the result is È
if i type CAPSLOCK+è+shift, the result is É.
Same with other vocals.
Image

In xchat, it dont work.
Image

Same with WINDOWS IME.

Regards

I guess its because that space after  ,

Do not use spaces.
